MDIHS SPOTLIGHT

Michael Johnston - Student of the Month

Congratulations to Michael Johnston, named December’s Student of the Month for the MDIHS Health and PE Department. In his four years at MDIHS, Michael has shown exemplary moral character, respect toward peers and community members, kindness and inclusivity, and an overarching sense of service. In a classroom setting, he encourages his classmates to converse, collaborate, and be involved in the school community and classes. In his community service class, Michael often would often deliberately partner with more quiet students to help them engage with project participants and feel more comfortable in the out-of-classroom setting. At the same time, Michael adapted to all the work environments the students encountered, whether reading to preschoolers, working in the library, or cleaning in the food pantry. In addition, he's willing to help out when needed as a ball boy or as a last minute spare hand to help with a kid’s fun run. Michael's kindness, hard work, dedication and dependability have improved our school and island community immensely. Thank you for all you've done, Michael!
